Pneumonia!

Last year it put me in the hospital for 5 days. It was after I had completed chemo and radiation. Like you, getting out of bed and walking 10 steps to the latrine felt like a forced March. I'm sure they've got you blowing into the "pickle".

I pray for your recovery. You'll be home soon.:)

Gary, I'm only kidding about the Wellness Innoculation!

And how lucky I feel to not being treated for oncology of any type. That puts me in my place very niftily.

Hope you recover fast Ron. I had double pneumonia when I was eighteen. Hosp stay was eight days, had oxygen upmy nose, ivs in each arm,and had to take a battery of bad-tasting meds each hour for two days. The upside of things, they had good food,a channel that played Westerns all day,and good looking nurses.

Hey Carl! Haven't been in the loop lately, what's status with your bean?

I am in hospital tonight myself. I was taken by EMS to the ER after dinner due to a protracted episode of tachycardia. I had some elevation of cardiac enzymes so I was admitted and got a nuclear stress test today...I don't know the results yet and may be in for catheterization depending on the results of the stress test...I used to get pneumonia regularly when I was in a field where I had close contact with lots of street people. I remember the extreme fatigue with night sweats and chest pain. It would usually take me a few months to completely recover. Since I retired and spend very little time around people, I have had no flu or pneumonia. I have also kept up flu vaccinations as well as pneumonia vaccinations...I have been in hospital numerous times due to various illnesses, injuries and surgeries and am fairly comfortable with the hospital routine and I'm fortunate to have good insurance to cover the expenses...I hope you have a quick and smooth recovery!

Never had pneumonia before. Last October Doc says I'm too old to not have shots. So I finally get immunized against.....WELLNESSSS!!!

Last year the doctor recommended I get a pneumonia shot; I was 80 at the time. I've had it twice and it's no fun; at my age third time might be the last.

Hi Ron,this month is surgery month. Ive got so far, five different appointments set this month. I think starting on the tenth--with an MRI,then have someother kind of scan a few days later. Then I think its my first out-paitent visit, then the day after is actual hospital stay expected one to two days in hosp, then final out patient visit on the twenty-sixth. Nothing else sey so far but,I know ill probably have a couple appointments in July so get things tweaked a bit.

After this--then the process starts for me to get foot surgery done. I need my left foot reoperated on due to first surgery not working like it was supposed to do.I need my right operated on as well--but I may put that off for some other time--as it doesnt hurt near as much as the left. If I do one surgery only? ill be walking with a cane forr about four or so months.

Truly sorry to hear of your condition. My last episode was 2004 and it almost killed me. Even after you're discharged from the hospital, it takes months to recover. I had several previous bouts of the disease, none has ever been minor.

As a long-term emphysema sufferer, the big P is my primary concern. This past fall, I had a "super" shot, (was it Prevnar?) and I will need a follow-up booster this fall.

And don't listen to anyone who advises to simply sit in the sun and drink orange juice as the cure. I wonder if the hospital has administered IV Zithromax; this was helpful to me.

P.S. In the hospital, the interns were questioning me about my condition, asking if I had recently been in a place with a lot of people. I replied, "Doctor, this is New York City, there are a lot of people everywhere."
