Pocket Carry POA while seated

Does anyone sometimes feel a little strange when seated across from someone while pocket carrying, because your gun is pointed at them while seated? Or is it just my OCD?

I would be most concerned that the gun is in a good hoster that covers the trigger.
A fellow carrying a gun loose in his pocket while sitting in an Oklahoma City mall food court managed to pull the trigger.
The bullet went into his leg.

How about carrying in a shoulder rig and having it pointed at the person behind you in the checkout line? I've thought of that before...

I had the same issue with a shoulder holster when I carried my M9 in Afghanistan. That's one reason I support the Galco holsters for heroes program. The holsters are vertical.

It's crossed my mind, but.......

not really. I carry revolvers and sometimes a P3AT. A DA revolver with an uncocked hammer, or a P3AT cannot fire if no one is touching them and they're in a holster that covers the trigger. My NAA single actions have their hammer in the safety slot between charge holes and are in a holster that covers the hammer. They can't be made to fire in that condition either.

I don't worry about holstered guns, they're inert. Do you worry about which direction a gun laying on a counter is pointing, too?

Now, if I was sitting across from someone with a gun in his hand pointing at me....

I worry not at all about my J-frames in my pocket.

A Glock would be an entirely different situation. Then again, I don't carry a Glock.

To me, this would be like worrying about the people on the floor beneath me as I walk around on an upper floor with my pistol holstered.
I also dont concern myself with my horizontal shoulder holster.

When at the gun shop I don't lay the gun down on the counter for the employee, I hand it to them with the cylinder out or slide retracted.
Maybe anal, but I think it is good Southern upbringing; well I'm good my Doctor refilled my Prozac script.

I don't worry about it, just try not to do it. I was raised that way too. I'm not comfortable if my loaded gun is pointed at anyone, no matter how "inert" it may seem to be. I always try to reposition the pistol to point at the floor as I sit down. If the slacks won't allow that, the gun usually gets discretely transferred to a jacket pocket. No OCD involved here, IMHO.

It is a non issue,about the same as worrying about getting struck by lightning. Save your worries for the important things in your life.

Keep your booger hook off the bang switch and everything will be OK.

As long as you use a good quality pocket holster that covers the trigger it shouldn't be a worry.

That includes Glocks also.

It doesn't bother me alot. There is never a way to keep the muzzle pointed in a (totaly) safe direction unless you live alone in Death valley.

Just keep your hands away, and don't carry anything else in that pocket. And things will be fine.
