I've been nursing a lower back problem the past month or so,
and wearing suspenders, rather than a belt, to hold my Wranglers
up.

Found this Strong brand, burgundy color, leather pocket holster
on ebay and bought it. It came yesterday.

It was obviously made for a smaller gun. Can't imagine what
gun. But I'm giving it a try with my 642-1.

It holds the little revolver upright in the front right pocket of
my Wranglers. The grip well positioned for quick contact.
The back is suede, so the holster stays in the pocket when
I pull the gun.

I think it will work OK, at least until I get my back problem
healed. I do know enough to not carry anything else in the
same pocket, and to keep my finger out of the trigger guard
until ready to shoot.

I pocket carry all the time due to back & hip problems and find it very convenient and comfortable. It also allows me to keep a firing grip on my gun, if necessary, w/o anyone realizing what I'm doing.

Been carrying my Ruger LCR .38 in my pocket for a few years. I might not be able to out draw Wyatt Earp but the gun is always with me. If I suspect trouble I also keep my hand close/or on.

As a pocket carry is almost impossible to get to while driving, if in a bad area it is relocated to the console for the duration. I do not leave it there. when exiting gun goes back in my pocket!

Phil, I would be a bit concerned carrying in that holster because so little of the gun is covered and held. I really prefer to have the trigger covered, and the gun a little more controlled by the holster.

The photo is my Kahr PM9 in a FIST Kydex pocket holster. I carry this probably 60%-70% of the time and have for the past 15 years. The holster is light and thin, and is easy to draw from. I'm going to get one for my 1954 M&P 2-inch as soon as it gets back from the shop.

I've tried most pocket holsters out there, this one works best for me. Thin leather, rough side out, shape is just right IMO. Made by Karla at Purdy Gear, she often has these ready to ship.

Hope your back gets better quickly.

Get the right "tool" for the right job.

That holster was not designed for your snubbie and is likely for something like an LCP. Get a holster that covers your trigger and secures the gun.

I'm the outlyer here: I don't use a pocket holster to carry a M38 (the gun I settled on long ago as the best pocket carry pistol ever produced). I find pocket holsters bulky, slow and generally unhelpful.

I think folks have confused the desirability of holsters covering the trigger guard for autos with whether that feature is important for revolvers: it is an unhelpful feature with a revolver.

Of course, I carry nothing but the gun and a handkerchief in the pocket.

ACE Case Friction holster has been holding my pocket 442 for some time now. It stays in the pocket and only cost me $15. for Two of them at a gun show. It has a rubber like coating. I like it.

I've had a Model 36 for a while but decided to go with a shrouded hammer J frame for pocket carry. The 36 only goes in a holster or my back pocket. Wanted a 49 real bad but ended up with a ridiculous deal on a flat latch Model 38. I'll carry it without a pocket holster.

If you are looking for an inexpensive short term fix check Walmart for the Blackhawk nylon pocket holster. I think it is a #3 or 4.

Protects the handgun and tends to stay in the pocket.

BUT I DON'T LIKE BELTS.

Mostly now it's a Bear Creek pocket holster for the Secamp, can't find my DeSantis leather pocket holster for my 640, it's OK I have lotsa MO. I'm in a Kydex pancake Phase now. I hope my box-o-holsters won't overflow. ;)
