Pocket Carrying J’s?

I'm not a tacticool guy, but I wouldn't rely on a cell phone as my only source of light.

I carry a modern, high lumens Surefire flashlight in my briefcase every day so I am not without a flashlight and I have another one in my car. But I have enough "stuff" in my pockets already; adding a flashlight seems unnecessary. If I get into a self defense situation I'll be happy if I have time to get my gun - I don't need to waste time thinking about a light.

But, sure, if I have to evacuate my office building and the lights are off that Surefire flashlight will be very handy. I keep several similar flashlights around my house, too, but the one time I THOUGHT I was in a self defense situation I grabbed a gun and two dogs, not even thinking about a flashlight.

On occasion I drop the Baby Chief in right rear pocket. Works fine without any pocket holster, but it's only occasional.
I removed the clip from my Endura and carry it in a sheath on my belt.
When the J was primary carry I used a leather Bianchi IWB.

"Also, my family has sever back issues that run in it, with sciatica being common."

Drink more water. Dehydration is very common among sciatica sufferers. Ibuprofen, even in small doses, also helps.

That being said: I knew a guy who carried a snubbie around his neck, under his shirt, hanging from a thin string, the string tied to the trigger guard. The string was thin, so that, if needed, he could easily yank on the string and break it. Presto! Instant gun in hand.

Remove the copper rivets

First thing I do on my jeans is remove the copper rivets, it makes a nice difference for pocket carry. A good pair of side cutters and or pliers will snipp the little nipple off and a twist of what's left using pliers seperates the rivet in two and they pull right out..now for my everyday pocket carry(340pd) I use a Desantis pocket holster and I carry it every waking minute in strong side front pocket. Speed loader on belt at 11:00. Speed strip, in offside pocket, microstream flashlight clipped right next to my knife on the offside pocket with a very thin magpull minimalist wallet next to the speedstrip. Every day all day solution that works for me.

I wear overalls or carpenter jeans. J frame or Cobra in right rear if up moving around and right front if seated . Usually have a small Case Congress pattern folder in the right front and a 50 + year old Buck on the belt , left side blocking easy access to the wallet . Couple of strips in the left front pocket. Fountain pen, pad and small phone in shirt pocket or bibb.

442 in an Alabama holster kydex pocket holster. About as good as it gets for a J-frame.

I also use the Alabama holsters for small semi autos, such as my Kahr PM9, and have one on order for my Sig P365.
