I'm looking to buy 1k rounds of 9mm ammo. Reason for the following question is the significant price difference I have found on the 115gr I'm looking at and the 124gr ammo I currently shoot. About $4 per box of 50 difference.

How much difference, if any, will there be in POI between 124gr and 115gr 9mm ammo in a 3rd gen S&W semi? I suspect very little but wanted to double check. I have a 5906, 5903TSW and 3914. Strictly target/plinking ammo.

I currently shoot 124gr in these with no issues at all. Am a bit concerned the 115gr may not cycle as efficiently at the 124gr.

Any advice is appreciated.

Very little difference in POI.
The 115gr will cycle fine ( we're talking about 3rd gen perfection here).

When I switched from loading 115gr to 124gr 9mm, I tested it carefully out to 100yd in M&P Pro and Paraord LDA.
The short answer is I don't think you will have any problems with the lighter bullet. The commercial ammo is usually loaded warm enough to cycle any pistol with a standard recoil spring, and the POI is close enough for most purposes.

I did find the 124gr to shoot higher loaded to the identical power factor as the 115gr, but at ranges under 35yds, we're talking fractions of an inch. You may notice the 115gr load has a bit more snap in the recoil, depending on the specific load.

Thanks for the info, guys --- that's what I needed to know.
