Point Shooting

maddog909, it appears as though my opinions are offensive to some of the members here so I'm going to step out before your thread gets locked. My apologies to you and best of luck.

With all due respect to the gentleman in the video posted elsewhere, I believe that his shooting in the video, at that distance, could have been done both faster and more accurately if he had both hands on the gun and used the sights.

Yes Sir,
I can fire faster, more accurately with both hands and using the sights...

Stay tuned, I'll get around to shooting one, 'sighted rapid fire', vid too.

I'm to old to have anything to prove, it's jest some laughs with a dime store video camera. It sure beats shovelin' horse manure in the evenings.

Best Regards,
Su Amigo,

Cooper lost a lot of credibility when he claimed that revolvers are obsolete. Most of the best gunfighters in history were revolver shooters, and the most stunning feats of speed and accuracy were accomplished with revolvers. Some of these shooters used the sights and some did not. But Cooper also trained his students in situational awareness and mindset. Anybody who comes out of such a course with an improved mindset and an ability to shoot more proficiently by using the sights will be more capable of defending himself out on the street. His experience will certainly have been for the better. I learned to disagree with Cooper over the years, but to call him a phony is a bit extreme.

Again, thanks all for the information. I really didn't want to stir up a hornets nest with the original post. From what I've gathered point shooting should be in the arsenal of techinques with regard to self defense. Last weekend I went out to the range and practiced a bit with it and was surprised that it worked pretty well, from 7 yards or less and that was the range of danger that I was thinking of when I originally posted. Really though, I found everyones comments very valuable and learned a lot. It all depends on the situation at hand whether you sight the target in of point shoot. Again, thanks a lot to everyone for the information and debate on the subject.
