Police Marked Model 15....OCSD..Agency????

I have a .357 magnum colt python carried by sheriff deputy in Henry county missourri, bought it from him when they changed to glock's. They had to buy their own and he couldn't afford both. Got the holster and gun both.

revolver marked ocsd

i have a 686 no dash that is marked OCSD 757, got it from the man who carried it in orange county florida. 757 was his badge number.

I have a 15-3 snub that dates from the early '70s. It is stamped on the frame (on the left side below the cyl., in the usual size and font) OR. CO. CA. I have always assumed it was a former Orange County, California Sheriff's weapon. It turned up in Montana, so I don't have a clue.

Any thoughts?

Shoots better than I do, and I dressed it up with a set of Grashorn Elk grips. It's a keeper.

My issue Sacramento P.D Mod 15-3. I was able to buy it in 1986 for $125.00 when they went to Sig's. It is still a great shooter. Saved my life once, me 1 bad guy 0.

I had a 1967 Colt Trooper in .38 Special with an OCSO stamp on the butt.
That stamp was very even and didn't look like an individual letter hand stamp.

dfariswheel,
Mine is stamped as a set too (not individual hand stamps). I have thought several times about getting a letter on it, just to solve the mystery. I believe these are factory supplied stampings, as they are consistent in size, font, and placement, throughout a large number of various departmentally marked Smiths.

I picked up a stainless Smith .357 stamped E.C.S.D. and it turned out to be Escambia County Sheriffs Dept. Florida.

I thought Sac PD went to 686s briefly before the change to the Sig P226. I remember a lot of trade in 686s at Old Sac Armory and that was the story Fast Eddie Faust gave on them.

The Sacramento Police Officers Association Commissioned 400 4" and 6" 586 Commemmoratives just prior to the Sig's being adopted all are stamped 1 of 400 on the other side below the cylinder. I bought 2 of each i for each son and two for me a 4" AEL 93XX and 6" AEM 58XX They were bought from Bill Davis Company in his West Sacramento Shop & I had the Bill Davis Combat Tune done to both.
