Police Officer Murdered in Sheridan, WY Today UPDATE AT POST 29

A Sheridan police officer was murdered this afternoon while serving a trespass warning. Details are sketchy but it appears that the suspect just started shooting. Last I heard he is barricaded in a nearby house and the situation is still ongoing. Prayers for the officer and his family.

While reading this story on Fox News website I saw another story about a New Mexico LEO killed while responding to trespass call. However a witness saw it happened and shot the perp killing him. Both officers young men that were not on the force very long.

Every time I hear of one of these tragic, unnecessary deaths it just makes my blood boil! I loved the job for over 36 years but it would be very difficult for me to encourage a young person to enter the profession now with what appears to be open season on PO's. This is a bad day for law enforcement...three Washington, D.C. police officers were shot this morning, though thankfully they don't appear to be critically injured.
