I wanted my Bodyguard to look different so I polished the barrel tonight. Im not sure how to get the "mirror image" but it looks great to me. Although I don't see any at all customized .380 BGs I'm wanting to polish my slide next and then Talon grips in the mail. I just like to personalize my things. Tell me what ya think.

Looks great, I also polished mine out last night. Makes the gun look a little better and don't have to worry about the worn look in the black fininsh after firing several times. It also takes out the MIM line on top.

can i ask a newbie question here...what does MIM stand for? and can you post pics of your BG. im also wanting to do the slide but dont know how that will look...what do you think? should I or no?

You won't believe this, but it's Metal Injection Molding....

Yes these barrels are injection molded.... :(

oh I see...thanks for letting me know. It doesnt bother me too much, being this is my first fire arms. my next purchase will be a really nice 9mm. but i dont know what yet.

You'd like a really nice 9mm for carrying or range use?

The 3913TSW is a really nice 9mm. Not expensive either!

If you have more disposable income, some highly regarded 9's are the Beretta 92FS, Sig P226, CZ-75 and the Browning High Power.

I guess the next question then is which polish to use. Mothers? Or Dr Guffs? ;) :) Regards 18DAI

@lost lake. Well I'd like a 9mm. For carry and range. So ill have to find the right gun. I was thinking more Sigs. But that won't be for a yr or two. I'm in no hurry. Unless I get a sudden itch.

@18DIA. Here's what I did. 1. Plugged the barrel both ends. 2. Soaked it in white vinager for 6 hours. 3. Started on the barrel with a dremal and Mothers Mag wax. And it took me about an hour. And like I posted before I'm not sure how to get that "mirror finish" but I'm happy with the shine. Now for when I do my slide I want that "mirror finish". I just need some advice as to how to get it. Maybe someone on here will help me.

BG380KY, just a little advice on the slide. I had a S&W 4006 once that I took completely apart polished the slide up to a mirror finish and then hatted it. Reason I hated it when shined up it was beautiful but as soon as I touched it the finger prints just showed up terrible, made the gun look awful. I sold it not long after that
The way I did it was go to Wal-Mart auto motive and pickup some wet dry sand paper. I started out with 400 grit, then 800,then 1000 and finally 2000 grit. After that I used mothers polish hand rubbed and it was mirror perfect until it was touched. Just my advise.

I started at 1500grit, then 2000grit (both wet sanding) then 3000grit wet sand. Finished it with Wizards metal polish. Did my SD40VE and two tone 457

What did you use to plug the barrel? I want to do this but never used a dremal. What did you use with the dremal to polish it? Can you post a pic of the entire barrel out of the gun? Thanks!!!

Hey man I'm from Louisville. Where u from? And I just used ear plugs they work wonderful. Everyone who owns a gun and goes to the range has ear plugs lol or who snores at night and ur wife has some lying around. Cotton balls work too.

Hey I appreciate the advice. On the slide. Well I'm just wanting my gun to look like non other. I really wanted to nitre blue the slide but that doesn't always look good. Anyways. Ill wet sand the barrel some and see what that looks like also I have that mothers mag. Ill see what I can do to that barrel some more. I don't think I will mess with the slide now thanks again on the information.

Might I add. I've never used a dremal either. But I went to Pep Boys auto center and they had them sitting on a clearance rack for just $19.99... $20 is too much but $19.99 is perfect. Lol JK. But the brand is not dremal just a off brand. 30pcs. Kit. Can't beat it. Anyways. As the other guys were saying, you don't even need a dremal. Just all by hand it's probably much safer anyways.

Sorry for post whoring. (3 In a row)

Bowling Green, KY for me. Hello fellow Kentuckians

Traction grips makes a set for the bodyguard too. I have them on my SD40VE and love them. Check out Tractiongrips. $8.99 with shipping

Great. Thanks for that info. Very cheap too. I paid $14.99 s/h. But the fitment is perfect! I'm very pleased with this grip. Now I just hopes it holds up
