POLISHING NICKEL S&W'S

ANYBODY KNOW WHAT TO USE TO POLISH NICKEL PLTD S&W'S? I HAVE A COUPLE THAT HAVE CLOUDY LOOKING SPOTS ON THEM. NOT SCRATCHED JUST LOOK LIKE THEY NEED POLISHING. ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I BOUGHT A MODEL 27 6'' NICKEL WITH TARGET GRIPS ON IT. I TOOK THEM OFF TO PUT ON PANEL GRIPS, AND THERE IS A LINE FROM THE OLD GRIPS. I'D LIKE TO GET IT OFF, BUT I'M AFRAID TO TRY. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

I have used Flitz with great results. EASY does it!! ....Comes liquid or paste, both read "polish", neither read "wax", and to my mind the liquid is just slightly more abrasive than paste. Light, very light rubbing,buff off and check results.
Many people swear by Ren Wax, and I do as well, and it can not be beat as a final protective coat,but,perhaps more impressive on blue than on nickel. Regards Biker

YES, TRY MOTHERS MAG AND ALUMINUM POLISH.

I've had good results with Flitz and would only caution you to do the polishing with a cotton tee shirt or similar and do it by HAND and NOT a Dremel. Nickel is thin and a Dremel spinning at 30,000 RPM will sometimes burn right through the Nickel before you even notice it. Go slow and check your work often. Don't try to make it 100% perfect or you will wind up going too far - remember........ you want to improve it not make it worse.

Flitz in the tube or Mothers Mag Wheel polish work equally well.
I apply with a cotton 2" x 2" cleaning patch working slowly and carefully then finish polish with either a soft cotton cloth or a many times washed microfiber cloth. When done, I wax the gun with Johnson's Paste Wax. Never, ever use any type of power tool to polish nickel or bluing on a gun.

Note- polishes will remover light scratches, dirt and some discoloration, however, they rarely improve "milky" areas on nickel which are often found around/under the grips from solvents working on the plating.
