Polishing stainless

I've found for polishing the front of the cylinder that Nev-R-Dull works best with no erotion of the metal, This would be for stainless only, There's also Lead Away cloth that I,ve heard work great as well..The Lead cloth may erode the metal some the Never Dull is a wadding soked in like a Kero based substance.. AutoZone also has the Nev-R-Dull..

I thought I was the only one that used Nev-R-Dull on the front of the cylinder. I've been using it on stainless revolvers for about 6 years and it really does work great.....

I used Mother's Mag Polish on this Model 66; still working on some scratches, but otherwise brings the finish up to look like nickel plating. As for the front of the cylinder, I use Adco's "E-Z Brite wonder cloth." This wipes deposits on stainless and nickel finish right off, and is also good for cleaning the bore of lead deposits when cut into patches. Just don't use it on blued guns, as it will take the bluing right off. The E-Z Brite cloth is available from Dillon and other suppliers.

I have not used Mother's on anything but as some of you say, it seems to work fine. However, I have used Flitz on my blued and stainless guns since the mid 1980's. It WILL NOT harm bluing and will in fact remove rust spots on blued guns and still leave the bluing looking great. It will shine up stainless steel as well as anything. Goes on super easy and comes off super easy.

If you're storing either a blued or stainless gun, give it a coat of Flitz, wipe off and then finish it up with a coat of Renaissance Wax. Renaissance Wax really helps preventing rust and corrosion but is harder to remove than Flitz.
