What is the best one (safest) to use on synthetic or plastic frames?

simple green works good, at least on glocks. use according to directions. an old toothbrush can help on tuff stuff.

Gun Scrubber SYNTHETIC is what I use to clean out the polly frames on my Glocks and Kahrs. Make sure it is the SYNTHETIC version.

No problem with hoppes #9. No need to reinvent the wheel.

+1 for Hoppes #9... but if I just want to quickly blow the crud out if the slide or frame without detail stripping the gun I use Gun Scrubber Synthetic. Remember to re-oil the gun after using Gun Scrubber because it strips all of the lubricants out with the crud.
