Got home, took my 36 off and proceeded unload it....As I wipe the lint, etc from pocket carry I notice my firing pin is broke off (hammer mounted). Take it to the gunsmith...he takes off the sideplate...hammer falls out!!! The pin that the hammer is attached to broke off???? It should be between PA and Mass now hopefully to get fixed free or cheap...I panicked and bought an airweight just to have something until it gets back...Anyone ever have this happen?

No, because I don't panic. :D

Many years ago I bought a model 36 that had a similar problem. The stud for the hammer didn't break, but it was bent. Took it to our department armorer. It was his opinion that these left the factory with such a heavy trigger pull that that was what caused the damage. He fixed it and gave it a sweet action job. Had no further issues with it.
