30 years old and never fired, picked it up a few weeks ago. Today, she went out and ate 400+ rounds. By the end, it was getting pretty leaded up but the accuracy didn't drop off. The 4" .22s are just a blast to shoot especially when you are working thru multiple targets and double tapping them in DA mode.

Right now I'm still more accurate with my Diamondback .22 in DA because I'm more used to the trigger and the larger grips but the 18 is a blast to shoot. I find I prefer the 4" BBL length over the 6" length on the K-22, especially when switching between multiple targets.

One nice thing about a .22, one doesn't have to think about the ammo replacement cost and empty pockets, if ammo costs remain high I don't see the popularity of .22 firearms waning anytime soon.

Sounds like you had a great day with you Model 18! I agree with your thoughts on shooting .22s and the ammo cost. I enjoy my .22s, and always keep an eye open for others!!! Skip48

I find myself grabbing one of my .22's more than any other gun
because they are so much fun to shoot and as you said, does'nt
cost alot to shoot either. I shot my new Government Model 1911 .22
Colt/Walther last weekend and has a blast.
I need to get a model 17 or 18 and that is next on my wish list.

10-4 on the ammo cost, components prices are through the roof. Congratulations on the new toy, I need a 4" 617 real bad

I bought in 81 a new 6" .22 Diamondback . Shot it a couple of times and to the safe it went for the next 30 years. Just yesterday I got it out and put 150 rounds through it . Had so much fun that I plan to include it every Saturday when I go to the range .
Guys if ya got em use em ! The heck with high ammo and component prices !

The 18 is in my opinion just about the ultimate .22 LR revolver. In fact, there really are few .22 handguns that equal it. I've had a number of 17's and 18's and much prefer the 18 for just about every use. If the standard magna grips prove unsuitable, a turn of the screw allows one to put on the S&W target grips which are for me very comfortable and well fitted. The smooth presentation grips are I think just about ideal. I first bought a 18 in 1983 after reading a number of articles on .22 handguns for use in the field and camping. It is a simply superb .22 revolver that completely meets every need both at the range and in the field. It is the ideal understudy to my 15-3, affordable to shoot, accurate just a joy to hold and enjoy.

..and you have plenty of options if you would like to put on larger grips.
