Pork Chops with Applesauce

Pork chops usually got taters of some type or other at my house or perhaps rice. Pork roasts weren't complete without baked sweet taters swimmin in butter and pork gravy!

The kraut with turkey thread got me to thinking about having porkchops served with applesauce. My family has always served them that way. When I bring it up around friends, they always think I'm nuts. Is this a regional thing? Most of my family is from Oklahoma and Nebraska.

I'm from Ohio, and we always had them together. I'm also of German ancestry, and I think it's fairly common from that angle, too. It must not be too unusual... I remember a Brady Bunch episode where Peter was trying to sound cool by talking with a horrible Humphrey Bogart affectation. When Alice asked what he wanted for dinner, he replied, "Pork chops, with applesauce!"

pork chops, macaronni/cheese and peas and then apple sauce -- the perfect meal. Had it last night as a matter of fact.

My mom was born in New Mexico, but grew up in SoCal. We always had applesauce with our pork chops or pork roast. I like a little cinnamon on my applesauce.
