Possible Model of 1950 in 45 Colt

It's too bad we can not get a quick serial number check on Smiths like we can on Winchesters from Cody or from Colt by paying a little extra. It would save headaches for the collector.

There is an easy way to get your serial numbers checked as to ship date from the factory. Roy Jinks is happy to do so for SWCA members here on the Forum, and if you are buying a .45 Military Model that may be an original .45 Colt it sounds as though you qualify for membership :) .

Hi:
In my non-expert opinion your revolver has been re-chambered.
I have seen over the years several Model 1955 Target Models that have had the cylinders bored out to .45 Colt.

Great!!! Now I'm sitting here "Jonesing" for some updated pics of my mostus favoritist caliber of all. It looks like a chamber job outside the factory, but what do I know? I hope I'm wrong. I can't help but think it will be the cats you-know-what anyway. Looks like those grips are going to be a deep, rich red also............Durn it to pieces!!!! I'm jealous already......hurry up with the pics.....:):)
