Possible stupid CCW question.

Gee... I'm not a LEO, but I knew this. It jumped out at me and I wondered why he even had a CCW. One question on LEOSA - Is it applicable in all states?

YES, LEOSA applies in all states....and "states" includes the District of Columbia as well as other locales.

Be safe.

Ok you do have to change it and I told them I'd be in next week and take care of it.

One more thing done, and what's next? (moving is so much fun) :D

I moved from NC to VA awhile ago. How to I go about changing over my CCW permit fom state to state?

You cannot change over your CCW from state to state.
Unlike a driverr's license, you can have as many as you qualify for, and must comply with each state individually.

Since NC does not issue a non-resident license, it appears it became invalid the day you moved to VA.
Unless your LEOSHA qualification is current, you appear to be carrying without a license. Suggest you go to your VA courthouse immediately and apply.

Since VA DOES issue a non-resident license, you could have avoided all this by applying to VA BEFORE you moved.

Moving " fun ", that's driving a fuly loaded moving truck on Interstste 40, looking in the mirrors, and seeing your wife in the car behind you crossing 3 lanes of traffic at 70 M.P.H. all the time while 2- 70 pound Bulldogs are fighting in the back seat on who gets the window side behind mommy.:eek::eek:

Whoa, thanks for the information. I went to the courthouse today and applied for a VA resident license. Now time to wait 45 days. This sucks I cannot carry concealed for at least a month. Good thing VA is open carry though.

All the above advice is good.

I cannot imagine it being okay for a legal doucement to have a wrong address. In my state you would be subject to a citation (already).

You might have already spent enough time stewing about this to have already gone and make it correct. ;)

Here in West Virginia if you move from one address to another,it doesn't have to even be out of county.Your ccw will be void and you will have to renew it.When i moved from Huntington to where i live now i had to renew even though i live in the same county.

Ok I did some real digging and joined a local gun owners forum, they're also big on gun rights and lobbying so they have a lawyer member who's down in Charleston and according to him I don't have to,just make sure I have a DMV ID or license with it that has my current address on it.

Since he says that I think I'm safe-I did tell him if I get trouble over it that he'll get a call from me! :D

And BTW there is no provision in the CCW law here that says you have to,none.

I'm still going to dig but so far we seem to be free of such things in WV.
