I found this (non-factory nickeled) 5" M&P this morning.

OK job on the nickel I guess and put back together properly. It's not buffed to heck and gone.

Well worth the $200.00 I paid for it IMHO. I just wish they would have left the hammer/trigger alone.

Serial S 853763

All matching, times fine, smooth action, tight, great bore. No wear on the new nickel. I guess it was sent off and not used much when it came back.

My questions.

I read where post-war M&Ps got the new address lines, but this one just has Made In USA on the right side.

The Magna stocks are numbered to the revolver, so I guess they are correct.

Hi

S853763 probably shipped in November 1946. The four line address wasn't instigated until the spring of 1948. I have never found an S prefix M&P with the four line address. Those first show up on the early C prefix units.

You are correct about the nickel refinish, but at least the stocks are original.

Thanks, I figured about that time frame. :)

It shouldn't be difficult or expensive to locate a case color hammer and trigger. That would improve the looks 200%!
If you're interested in swapping them out, send me an email. I'll take good care of you with pricing. I can scrounge up a correct long action early post war hammer with hammer block safety cut, and nice or NOS trigger. If you're lucky, they will drop in. If not, any REAL gunsmith would be able to fit them with his eyes closed.
