Post war vintage iron and leather,a picture thread.

Hi ,
Roy Baker the pancake maker made a very nice holster shown here with a nickel 36-1.

Safariland makes some great holsters like this model 17 black basketweave. The gun is an early pre 34 22LR 2" with stag grips.

Smith & Wesson Leather made some nice leather during the 1970s and early 1980s like this B04 Basket weave. It is marked 72 size because it was designes especially for centennials and bodyguards with the strap holding the back of the trigger guard instead of the hammer. It works with the grip adapter also. Gun is a pre 40 2"

Buchimer came out with this design in the 1960s. It put the gun in a high cross draw position without the straps of a shoulder holster. The aluminum reinforced plate was removeable and the holster could be put on a belt without it. Retension was by an adjustable spring. Gun is pre 36 in 3" barrel and eagle grips.

jimgoldth:

You have the best holster collection that I have seen. Still cannot thank you enough for the holster you had for my Fitz. The odds of ever finding the correct one for that gun were astronomical. Until this fine gentleman offered me one of his.....

Thanks again Jim~

Here's mine. This is actually my first Smith. I purchased it about four years ago with holster. The holster is made from thin leather with a thin suade liner, stamped Monte Carlo hand made USA.

Jim & others;
Bucheimer & Heiser came up with similar designs about the same time;apparently neither company held a patent.The 1st page is from a Bucheimer catalog dated 1955-56; the Heiser entry is from catalog # 52 with a Feb. 1957 dealer's price sheet laid in.

Following are 2 Heiser versions of this design-a floral carved model for a 3 1/2" .357 Magnum such as a model 27 & the plain holster is inked by the maker "MP 2" as shown.The last photo shows that the Heiser version had no provision for wearing the holster without the hip plate.

Great thread. Here is a 5" M&P 1946/7 transition model, along with a custom built floral-tooled belt and holster.

The years post war gave us some modern materials that did a good holding guns in an effective, efficent way. This Bianchi Molded Nylon holster Is quite effective for S&W 3913 and can be used for other models.
