This was the other oldie no model number on the gun. I identified it as a 1956 or 1957 model 27.

Model numbers not assigned until 1957 so a 1955-56 gun with no model stamped is a "357 Magnum" (or pre-27 if you must).

The long barrel makes a fun shooter. Nice period stocks.

I would lose the trigger shoe. They are unsightly and often stick out beyond the trigger guard making them a little dangerous.

Thanks for the info. You are correct about the trigger shoe it doesn't stick out a bit and makes for a slightly undesirable feel. My buddy didn't have small enough Allen wrenches or it would've been off already haha! Thanks again!

My favorite shooter is a 357 (pre-27) with an 8.375" barrel in about the same - well used/loved condition (see photo below). What a great gun - shoot the heck out of it and it will make you smile ear to ear each time you take it to the range.

I like this gun so much that I had my revolver smith (Nelson Ford) put a gold bead front sight on the gun (I have not taken a new photo with the bead).

Thanks for sharing,

Beautiful gun! My buddy took it to a local guy to get it cleaned up and tuned then it's range time I'm pretty hyped!
