My dad stops over today and tells me a friend of his wants to sell a 10mm S&W revolver. He said it has a 6" bbl, and a fluted cylinder. It has wood combat grips, and is apparently in great shape. It comes with its original box. The owner wants $1000 for it. I have no pics, but my father has been collecting guns for 50 years, so if he says it's in great shape, then it's in great shape. I want a 3" Model 610, but if this is a good deal, I might pick it up. Any opinions on value? Thank you.

Go for it...I would

Considering things, you should jump on it if you can. Price isn't likely to go down anytime soon. Worse case, I'm sure you could get it & more back if you found a 3" bbl. later & wanted to sell it (to me :D).

I would buy another nice one at that price !
My 610s are the most accurate revolvers I own !

310/610s are great revolvers. I have opened mine up so that thye can also chamber and fire 10MM Magnum in addition to the 10MM Auto and 40S&W

The 3" 610s are somewhat scarce, when you find one it will not be cheap

I agree with Murphydog, $1000 is a fair price for a 610, I recommend jumping on that offer as soon as possible. As others have said, the 610 is a very accurate revolver. I own a 5" version while my son has the 6.5" model. We load the 40 S&W down to a 120 power factor for both steel and ICORE. While the 5" version handles this load very well, the 6.5" barrel barely moves during recoil.

I will have my dad ask his friend if it is still available. Thanks for the advice.

Great price for a great gun. I would jump on it for $1000. If you ever want to sell it just post it and it will be sold quick. I am still looking for a 610 in any length but they are hard to come by.

I am looking for a 4" pre lock...........well that and a Unicorn.

My suggestion is to jump on it. I stumbled into one not too long ago and have been very pleased with it.

Pre-lock 4" with original box and paperwork down to the receipt when purchased new.
