I have put together a list of potential upgrades for Shields for our local Gun Club. It obviously does not include everything (Holsters alone would make this list way too long. I hope this will help members of this Forum.
Shield Upgrades (Some of these don't work on the 45 ACP)

Most people only make a couple of upgrades. I went with a Stainless Steel RSA, TFO sights and a Hogue for my first gen 9mm Shield along with some polishing.

SIGHTS
A gunsmith is advised for changing sights. Alternatively, you can use a sight pusher. I believe MGW is the most commonly used pusher for the Shield and costs about $100. JMT also makes a great pusher.

XS Sights Big Dot
TRUGLO TFO or TFX Tritium/Fiber-Optic Sights

TRIGGER
Apex Tactical Duty Trigger – The Apex DCAEK (Duty/Carry) Action Enhancement trigger kit is the most popular. YouTube installation videos make the installation fairly easy. The Apex action block really helps to hold the frame in place while you work. This trigger provides a smooth, consistent, and light pull that is noticeably better than the factory trigger.
An alternative is the custom trigger job by any of the following:

If it ain't broke why fix it ?
Just buy a more expensive pistol if you want all the bells & whistles.

Agreed. My opinion may be worth little since i am still new to tge 2a community. But isnt this like buying a Honda and trying to make it a M3 BMW?

Excuse my ignorance in not understanding so many upgrades in (assuming) an EDC gun

Interesting. That's a decent list of stuff to buy for the Shield, but none of it is an upgrade. Nothing in that list makes the gun work better.

If you really want an upgrade, look to Apex.

Just shoot it, try it out for a couple months, than decide what needs to be upgraded if anything? Only immediate item one would need is a holster if you were going to carry it.
Most firearms I have purchased over the years remain completely stock except for maybe a new set of grips.....Just my opinion, but I could be wrong?

I see no reason why a person can't modify their firearm to make it better for them(function or looks). Look at the aftermarket: springs, triggers, stainless guide rods, night sights, grips, etc. And gunsmiths doing triggerjobs/actionjobs/reliability/carryjobs, or polishing the feed ramp, crowning the barrel, etc. How many people bought a stock 1911 and dropped 2-3k on customization or those people buying the perfect pistol(glock)(sarcasm) and putting in different connectors, triggers, sights, stipling, etc. It's a personal decision, make your choice, carry what you have and live with the outcome.

The ulultimate upgrade for any shield owner is...... a brand new 9c or 45c

No thanks,
I actually carry on a daily basis[emoji6]
