Powder to cover both .38 Sp. and 9mm?

If anyone ever gets Unique to flow the way Win 231 / HP38 flows through powder measures like water through the faucet then I will go back to using the big U. But as long as it stays in the crispy corn flakes that like to bog up from time to time then the quart of it can stay in the back of the shelf.

Oh, and I'm a Trail Boss hater as well.

Powder

My choices

1. Power Pistol
about a step slower then Unique, much cleaner, much better flowing.
This powder is great in the 9mm , great for plus power 38's

2. Accurate #5 This is I believe even closer to Unique, but cleaner , better
flowing. This is one of my favorites, but my dealers are frequently out of it so I use I lot of Power Pistol. It is also more expensive , but only a couple dollars a pound.

I have not been buying Unique lately , but it is only because of its crappy
flow characteristics, not because it doesn'yt work well.
It does.

If you insist on using the same powder, I would go for the 231.

Regarding your concern about double-charge, the fact you are reloading on a single press gives you all the time in the world to double and triple check visually the powder level while the loaded rounds in in your loading block. For better viewing, use a flashlight.

For me, I use TiteGroup in .38 and WSF in 9mm. On a ransom rest at 50 yds, with the PROPER bullet, both groups make it in a 1.5 - 2 ", enough to fit inside the "X" of a PPC target.

I am not at all surprised by the number of different responses. I guess it just goes to show you how many different options there are. :)

Local availability might also be a factor. Like many, I got back into guns around...oh... November '08 or so. ;) And started reloading during the Great Ammo Drought of '09-'10. Finding compnents wasn't easy either. I discovered Green Dot when I couldn't find any Bullseye. I like the stuff & found some applications where I think it actually works better than BE.
