WHY USE SUPPRESSORS WHEN SHOOTING AT A RANGE?

how do you aim it? If you just stick it tight in their ribs to shoot, no need for a can...... or sights you can't use.

As they say, you sight through the can. Didn't believe that till actually trying it. Of course the suppressor is not "invisible". For the purposes intended, can reliably hit chest area on silhouette at 25 yds. And yes like everything else, it takes practice.

For personal distances am only looking over sights and focusing on target anyway, even non suppressed.

When i first started with these, went to too much effort to get higher sights on everything. And still have others with sights above, though they fulfill different roles.

And while differing people have differing preferences/purpose, am not dependent on battery's for any firearm owned.

Yeah. They don't help much when yer outside....

From experience, suppressed rounds from a rifle certainly do help outside. Subsonic 300 blackout from a bolt is very close to hollywood quiet, and the most noise from a subsonic 22lr through a bolt is bullet impact or hammer falling. From actual direct experience

And noise from a 16 in 308 is considerably quieter suppressed. Although not really hearing safe and there is a sonic "crack" that follows the bullet down range.

Check out the AAC Illusion, the same concept as the original Maxim. I hate the tall suppressor sights.

First time I fired my sub suppressed 300 I thought it was a squib.

Have not kept up to newer designs, but am liking the concept of increasing volume below the line of sight. This is an earlier example, and works very well but at disadvantage of lenth. The omega K pictured above is shorter than it appears, which was valued over being below the sights on home defense pistol.

Being retired and on fixed income, am not likely to purchase anymore.

Completely understandable.

A gentleman was shooting subsonic 308 from a bolt gun in the aisle next to mine, and I had no idea he was even shooting until I saw the pile of spent brass.

Hard to beat the smile-to-dollar ratio of a suppressor.

Never saw the need for one, for me, personally...

Don't see a problem for anyone who wants one, for whatever legal application...

Don't need one more thing to clean, either.

Cheers!

P.S. They should be one less thing the atf doesn't need to be wasting millions of tax dollars regulating: they need to concentrate on their original function of collecting taxes on alcohol and tobacco, or be done away with entirely!

The ATF is making millions off suppressors. $200 a pop for virtually nothing, Especially if the Buyer is purchasing a second can. All the legwork has already been done.

I have 2 suppressors and another one waiting for approval. So I’m not talking smack to anyone who has a suppressor. Suppressors are expensive. Then you have the govt extorting $200 for each one. If you’re running an AR, your gun is filthy, your brass is filthy, and you have to deal with the gas. You can mitigate a lot of the gas by spending another $100 on an adjustable gas block, then another $100 on a gas buster charging handle. Suppressors on bolt guns make a lot more sense. But a good AR shoots almost as well as an average bolt gun. But the AR is a lot more fun.

Plugs under muffs would be a lot cheaper. Oh well.

I’ll bet there are powder companies right now working a powder that smokes even less, just for suppressors.

NO.......They WON"T ship it to your door..........YOU have to fill out a 4473 form at the dealer and pick it up.........I just went through the procedure.
Oh yes they will ship to your door… When the suppressor goes from the manufacturer to a dealer that is acting as a rep of the manufacturer in your home state - they ship to your door off a 4473 that has been pre filled out. Done it myself several times and know the process works.

This is correct for Silencer Central. However, I was horrified when I drove home and saw the box sticking out of my mailbox. I’d rather visit my FFL buddy …

How do you pre fill out a 4473 without knowing the serial number of the can?

I just went through it with Silencer Central as well, it was a very quick and simple process. You fill out the 4473 online, it has the serial number on it. When everything is approved, they send it to an FFL in your home state, they just put it back in the mail and send it to your door. The weird part though was the fingerprints. Silencer Central sends you fingerprint cards and ink, take your own fingerprints and send it back to them. That blew my daughters mind, being a state trooper, she was disturbed by the lack of accountability with that...no chain of control. But the process did make me wonder why the same process can't be used for gun sales. 4473 online, and delivery by commercial shipping. There must be legal exemptions for cans.

I didn’t understand how the fingerprints could be considered valid. They could be anyone’s.

At a Silencer Shop kiosk, they take your fingerprints digitally in person.
