As others have mentioned, you should practice with the same equipment that you intend to use in real life. I recently built an AR 15 pistol in .300 AAC (Blackout) that is intended for home defense and vehicle use with subsonic ammo. I just bought my first suppressor...mainly so if necessary I can shoot that pistol when I'm not wearing hearing protection, and so I won't be blinded by the flash in the dark. Although I am not fortunate enough, like some of you, to have a shooting range in my backyard, the local shooting club that I belong to has numerous "Action Areas". These AAs are used for USPSA, Action Steel, and IDPA practice and matches, but at other times members can freely use them for shooting multiple targets, shooting on the move, draw and shoot, defensive shotgun and rifle, etc. I can practice alone in an AA with my AR pistol and suppressor without worrying about the report from other shooters' firearms and having to wear hearing protection.
