I was up in Brisbane a few days ago visiting when I saw this the Gunsmith had just finished. I might get him to build me one I think. It's a 686 with all the goodies and a superb DA trigger.

Go for it! I wished I'd gotten a PPC Revolver sooner! My Clark PPC revolver is A LOT more fun to shoot than I expected. I've had mine for about six weeks and I've put over 1600 rounds through it already - I'm addicted!

Bullet: Remington 148 gr. HBWC
Powder: Alliant Bullseye 2.8 grs.
Primer: Federal 100 Small Pistol Match
Case: Remington Wadcutter
LOAL: 1.185
Comments: Cases resized using Lee Factory Crimp Die with seating stem removed and taper-crimped.

Oh hey a thread after my own heart since I've been accumulating slab barrel PPC style guns for a year or two. This seems like a fitting way to kick off my account here.

First up is what initially looks like a 586, however it is actually a factory SAO 14-3 with 586 barrel and recessed model 19 cylinder. It was refinished by S&W and is wearing a set of Cloyce grips. It normally has a different set of more target-style Cloyces but this was a better quality picture.




Next up is a 586 with a Clark setup custom built by a gunsmith at New Braunfels Gun Works as his custom PPC gun. It has Nill grips.




Moving on here's a 27-2 of unknown origin with Fitz grips.




Finally here's the centerpiece of my collection and most recent purchase, a 629 that's been engraved, fully worked over, and converted to .45lc. The grips are generic Thai ebay grips which are fine until I find something that fits this perfectly.

Now there's a few similar ones on GB from the same seller in what appears to be an estate liquidation which give clues to the work that's been done but I don't currently have any proof. The non-slab twin to this was engraved by Jere Richardson but mine isn't marked by the engraver that I can see. There's another that has similar action work done but was Behlert modified but I can't find any proof that mine even went there either. If anyone has some ideas on how to trace down who did what then feel free to chime in.

My 586 with Douglas barrel

Had to complete the build on this by sending to Clark, they did a fantastic job. Then had it Cerakoted which I don't know if I like it or not. Still like the old bluing look and the gun didn't really have a good finish when I bought it. Shoots great. Aristocrat rib.

This WAS a beater south of the border, S&W mod 64 till Joe at MOJO did his work. Davis grips on the way, Hard grips for pics.

I entered my first NPSC last year and had a great time! Revolver-wise I was shooting a couple borrowed 686's, a 4" and a 6". I was fortunate enough to earn some Distinguished Revolver points and even won a firearm award for a first timer! Needless to say my search was on for a 1500 gun and I was able to buy this from a nice gentleman this winter.

I even exchanged some emails with Mr. Davis which was awesome in itself. Its a Grade IV built on a Model 67, which apparently was spec'd out by the Secret Service Team back in the day. About 3-400 were built off this spec according to Mr. Davis. This is an excellent piece, very little signs of wear. My only plan is to replace these grips with some Davis, which are on the way. I shoots GREAT! Can't wait to take it to Raton in July and back to Albuquerque in Sept.

i'd search and try to find a set of Bill Rogers combat grips for your PPC

best i found, and tried them all back in the day (mid 70's to early 80's),looking for that extra advantage

A six inch magnum in .357 or .44 would make a great ground blind or tree stand gun or at least thats what Ive always thought. Anyone here use one for hunting? I know we have a member who rescued a 4 incher for house duty for his misses.
PS I love the classic Rogers/Safariland grips.

BEAUTIFUL STUFF!!! I didn't see one of these though. A J- Frame PPC gun. A model 34 built by TL Almond 30 years ago. Honest to Goodness, it shoots as good as anybody can hold.

I've wanted a PPC gun since I saw my training sergeant carry one at the Sheriffs Office (circa 1977). What I found is an "S" code m&p with a milled bull barrel and a Bo-Mar ramp. Still tight with a crisp light double action. I put some new Davis grips on it.
