I have a Walther PPK .380 and I'm thinking about selling it (heard it was under recall) and replacing it with a Sigma 9mm, Beretta Storm PX4 9mm, or some other polymer-framed autoloader. Any opinions? I am interested in maximizing on all fronts (price, quality/durability, etc.).

In my OPINION, you can't beat the bang for buck you get with the Sigma. Quite frankly, it is probably the best value on the market for a gun in it's class. That said, I haven't any first-hand experience with the other two guns you've mentioned, so it would hardly be fair for me to say the Sigma is better than either of them. No matter which way you go, none of them will be as concealable as the PPK you are wanting to get rid of.
The PX4 ain't cheap. Isn't it about as much as an M&P? If you want to get out on the cheap, Sigma wins the day hands down. Find the right price. Sigma prices seem to be all over the board nowadays. It was nice when they were $299 with 4 magazines.

Conn, you know, I found one PX4 priced about $400 bucks. It was new for that price with 2 mags. I want to spend $400 or less.

I've had my PX4 9mm for a couple years and it's one of my favorite shooters. It is surprisingly accurate and reliable... but most importantly just feels good in my hand.

I'd choose the Sigma over the PX4 simply because of parts and service ability. PX4 mags are VERY expensive for example ($32 or more) and quality leather is almost impossible to find.
You cannot go wrong with either pistol, it really comes down to price and convienence.

I have both the SW9VE & Px4 (9mm F build). The Sigma was my first pistol, bought for HD in December. It was reasonably priced, and I got 2 free 16-rd mags. I bought it for the stiff trigger (a sort of built-in safety), price, and S&W rep.
A few months later, w/the pistol bug biting me hard, I bought a gently used Px4. The ergo's & pointability are perfect for me, and it shoots like a dream. It has three different sized backstraps so you can fit the gun to your hand, and is DA/SA.
Over 1000+ rounds have been fired through both guns, and I've had zero hiccups w/either one using a variety of JHP & FMJ ammo.
Personally, I prefer the Px4: it fits my hand a bit better, is a better shooter, and is just downright sexy. But, even gently used, it was almost $100 more than the Sigma. The Storm is my bump-in-the-night piece, but the Sigma is still loaded & resides on the other side of my bed (should the GF or dog shove me to that side
). I'd have no qualms using either should SHTF. If you can find a gently used Px4, go for it - you won't be dissapointed - but the Sigma is a fine choice as well.

Based on your requirements, it appears the Sigma is the best fit. The Walther is a different caliber (.380 ACP), which is an under-powered 9mm round that is hard to find factory ammo for currently. I had one for a while and it had a nasty habit of biting the hand that fired it. It also went full auto on me once and had to go back to the factory for warranty repair. The Sig is a fine weapon, but it doesn't fit well in my hand. I haven't tried the Beretta Storm so I can't speak for that, but I do have a Sigma 40F that is an excellent gun. Your Walther will have pretty decent resale value assuming condition is good. I'd suggest going to a gun range that has some different 9mm semi-autos for rent and trying them out to see what works best for you.

PX4 not a Cougar???
I just bought a Stoeger Cougar 8040 for $399 at Academy and LOVE it. It is the old Beretta Cougar that Beretta moved the milling machines from Italy to Turkey. If you are wanting a DA/SA metal framed pistol that is heavier and a little larger than the Sigma, this is a sweet pistol. The trigger is about the same on DA as the Sigma, but way smooooother, with a cleaner break, then the trigger resets closer to the break for follow-up SA. It has an external hammer and decocking safety. The barrel rotates on a cam, rather than tilts back, so less kick and barrel flip than the Browning actions.. I am torn between the Sigma 9 and the Cougar 9 for a wife gun. I know I can smooth out the trigger on the Sigma from the lessons learned on my .40, but I like the quality and tightness of the Cougar for only $60 more . . .

Sigma best for money !
I bought a Sigma when they had the rebate for 2 free mags at a price of $299 and I love it ! Mine is in 40 S&W not 9mm but other than that they are basically the same pistol.It just feels right in my hand like it belongs there. Some people complain about the trigger pull but I shot DA revolvers for years so I don't even notice it ! It has been a purchase that I have definitely not regretted !

OK, the low price spread for 9mm Semi-autos, include the S&W Sigma, Sturm Ruger P95, and Stoeger Cougar. All have been found under $400, some closer to $300 than others.
All are quality guns with similar profiles and different enough to make a horse race.
