I've got to tell you the more I shoot the gun the more I like it. Very, very accurate. Light recoil, great carry gun. What shocked me at the range today is I pulled it out for fun on the rifle range and hit the steel 5 out of 8 at 100 yards. None of my other handguns came close...

So here's to the Shield 45... hope you like yours... tell us!

So far, I'm really liking the 45 shield. It has the capacity in the 1911 range in a flat, light weight package. It handles recoil extremely well and has been both reliable and accurate. I plan to test it pretty hard and if all goes well, it will be my new off duty carry handgun. I'm considering getting a second one or waiting to see if S&W will make a 2.0 45 compact.

They have changed the .45 to the. 45 2.0 already. I don't believe there are any changes but the engraving on the slide. I like mine very well! It is my edc and shoots remarkably well!

I've seen those. I meant the full size compacts...4 inch barrel double stacks.

To the OP:
You picked a winner. Had mine out to the range and she got nice and dirty, so I just field stripped her and gave her a nice cleaning on Saturday.

Amazing little firearm — said it before and will say it again, VERY ACCURATE. I don't know how they did it, really. And they let me get my hands on this little beast for $258 after rebate last year. Nothing else out there even comes close at that price, making this BY FAR the current best value in a personal 45, as far as I'm concerned.

The only thing I've had drama with are the magazines, which were corrected with new follower parts from S&W; but overall, yeah it's a home run and I hope to be using it for a long time. Thread needs some pics...

I had the Shield 9mm from when they first became available. An old buddy talked me into trading it to him for a Model 60 I sold him back in the early 80's. I was able to get my hands on a Shield .45 and I think it's phenomenal. It's accurate, reliable, and soft shooting. The best part is, it's a whole lot lighter than my Commander, even though there are times when you've just got to carry a 1911 if you're going to carry .45 ACP. This pistol has caused me to bench the G30s.

If you like your .40, you'll love the .45. My Shield shoots almost as accurately as my Kimber, with less muzzle flip. I don't know how S&W got a .45 in such a small package to have so little recoil, but they aced it. There are a ton of mini guns on the market, and more popping up almost daily, but they'd be hard pressed to find one better than the .45 Shield.

I just got my Shield 45 and put 200 rds thru it today. I was very impressed with it. I am glad to see all these positive reviews. Once I get really comfortable with it maybe 500 rounds or so, it will replace my Glock 29 as my EDC.

A couple of months ago, my wife and I each purchased a Shield 45 (performance center). My former edc was an M&P 40C which I thought was an awesome pistol. But, now, the 45 is our edc. We've shot about 400 rounds each through our pistols. No FTF or FTL. They have performed flawlessly. We use Speer GDHP for defense and Lawman for practice, 230 gr.. Accurate and manageable recoil. An excellent EDC, in my opinion.

My Shield .45 is my EDC, and when I had it at the range was very impressed with its mild recoil etc.

Rats, I thought I was over the urge to get one in .45, now the urge is back stronger than ever. I really like my Shield 9, but when the weather turns off cold and I wear heavier bulky shirts, I carry my 4516, because a .45 just feels right. The Shield .45 solves everything! I gotta get one.
Don't fight the urge, just go with it. :D

My 40 Shield is fired infrequently, on a not so steady diet of Underwood ammo that is speced at 588 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. My G29 is fired infrequently, on a not so steady diet of Underwood ammo that is speced at 775 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Can I guess that the 45 Shield can handle infrequent firing of .45 ammo loaded to a little bit more oomph than Underwoods' hottest .40 offering? It can't be too much more, because 694 ft-lbs of muzzle energy is .45 Super territory, and I can't expect this nice, tidy platform to handle .45 Superoidal loads.

As far as improved terminal ballistic performance is concerned, how much improvement can the 45 Shield offer compared to what 40 Shield offers?

My praise for it has nothing to do with terminal ballistics... ;)
