Thanks for the prayers
My Father and best friend has passed away. Thank you for all the prayers, but it was his time. Wounded in action during his second enlistment with the 82nd Airborne during WWII, he was lucky to live. He never sought payment for his wounds from the government or a Purple Heart. World War II veterans were a different breed of people.
It was an honor to share part of his life with him, and he treated my Mother with the love and respect she so deserved. He took her many places she could never have gone without him. He never abused her.
With the two of them gone, my wife and I will have a void for awhile trying to adjust. We can start to try and restructure our life together after the grieving and pain eases into joy. He left a very large pair of shoes I will never be able to fill.
I know many of you have already gone through this. You have my condolences. I can only say I know a bit of how you must feel now.
My Dad was truly a great man, to me at the very least. May he rest in peace with my Mother.
