I wish I had words of comfort to offer. I think you are confronting something that we all will, sooner or later, and how we confront it is something some of us can choose. You have that, at least. Your choice will define you, and will be an example to your sons, your wife, your extended family and friends. I send prayers for your strength as you face this crisis. May God be with you.

Steve, I can't imagine the horror and pain you and your family are dealing with at this time. I, too, will be praying for you and yours. I can only add that please know when things look the worst-there's no way out-that's when it seems the Lord will appear to see you through. Ask Moses at the Red Sea, Daniel in the lions' den, David up against Goliath or the 3 men that walked into the furnace and were not harmed. The Lord was there to save them against incredible odds. Trust He will be beside you also, if you ask.

Steve, my wife faced a similar decision--treatment that had a high risk of death, with lots of hospital and lots of pain. She declined the treatment.

She decided to come home, and with the help of a fine hospice, family, and friends, we kept her at home until her death two months later.

I miss her like life itself.

I can only suggest you ad your God make the decision.
