Prayers request, please.

Guys - I'm very humbled and appreciative of the prayers and concerns by all.
Back home after a full day of consult with the surgeon and subsequent CT scans, blood panels, (2nd time for both) etc. Many of you have walked this path.

Back home, hurting, waiting on results and feeling thankful for good men such as all of you.
Have vowed to beat this, as it is certainly a definite fun-killer.

Thank you all.

Hang in there Old Corps. I can say our prayers are the best medicine and your faith will carry you through. Stay strong!

Prayed for you earlier this evening, that the drugs will eliminate the darned stuff, but if it takes surgery to do the job, that it can be done quickly and completely successfully.

Just prayed again.

i know exactly how he feels i have divers too and also chrones,,, both are nasty stuff,,,, the divers is where a small pocket forms in the colon and if stuff gets in there will cause inflamation then anitbitics are needed,,,, thats why we are not suppose to eat anything with seeds,, peanut but,,, sesame seeds,,tomatoes ect ect,,,, peanut butter and nuts are the worse,,, i have been dealing with both for over 35 years... neither are pretty especially when you have a flare up from either 1 or both,,, prayers his way,,,,

Lynn, prayer javelins showering toward the coast from here in Greenville for your recovery from what's ailin' you. Hang tough!

I know what you're going through. I've had 2 bouts with diverticulitis and it isn't any fun. The first time the antibiotics worked right away but the 2nd time the PA gave me a different antibiotic. It didin't work so I had to take the other. My cousin was treated for weeks and then they said she had a perforated colon and she had surgery to correct it. She was in the hospital for weeks before they got it fixed. My doctor told me to eat a good yogurt and fiber everyday and so far everything is working. Good luck and get well.

Thanks so much guys - still going on and my patience is wearing thin with it. I usually feel great so this is....unacceptable!

I'm on my 3rd doctor - the 2nd, a surgeon, saw nothing on the CT scan and blood panel (have had 2 of each) that warranted field dressing me and fixing anything. All looks normal. (Very thankful nothing like a mass or anything seen...)

He referred me to a gastroenterologist - she examined CT and blood panels and to her credit wishes to proceed with caution before anything like cutting. Recommended much the same bland, boring diet and 2x daily fun-drinks of MiraLax powder mixed with cold water.
So - a few days of this - still hurting, but seemingly a little less.

They've scheduled another fun event for later - yep, a colonoscopy which I'm a little overdue for. But, the going wisdom is your guts need to be calmed down for that to be done.
Still in the 'we'll see' stage on all this.

I truly appreciate all the prayers and concern.

Have the doctors mentioned IBS yet? Irritable Bowel Syndrome is worth discussing the your doctor. The symptoms are similar.

Maddog, not yet, but scheduled back again next week - that may be a topic for discussion.
Thanks.

--UPDATE --

Thought I'd just share an update since so many of you guys well-wished me and I'm sure prayers were lifted for me.

Once more, the power of prayer is displayed and shown to be great.

I'm mostly OK.
Long boring story, but condensed, looks like I had a pretty bad bout with diverticulitis and it took a couple of runs of different antibiotics to kill it off. That, and a very modified diet for awhile.
Considerable pain even after the diverticulitis cleared though.

Gastro doctor started me on meds for IBS (irritable bowel), Dicyclomine(?). A pill before eating and one at bedtime.

S l o w l y - things started getting much, much better.
Very small increments of a decrease in pain almost every day.
And finally - I've lost the fear of being too far from available plumbing in public ;)
A little pain still exists but have faith it will be gone after awhile. Compared to before, it's nothing.

Even had old bear here for a visit a couple of weeks ago and we enjoyed time at my range.
And we're planning a visit to Battery Oaks in SC next month.

Just wanted to say thank you to all the guys here that wished me well, sent prayers, etc. It for sure worked.
