Pre-10 barrel question

In the classifieds there's a guy selling a pre-10 2" with cracked forcing cone. Leaving aside some possibly concerning aspects of the post, I'm wondering about replacing that barrel. I can find plenty of replacement barrels for a 2" Model 10 (ramped front sight) but a quick search online doesn't turn up one for a pre-10 (crescent front sight). Anybody have any ideas for where to find one? I guess I could get a later barrel with a ramped front sight, but it would be nice for an older gun like this to have the right barrel.

Considering the round front sight barrels have been out of production for over 50+ years, searching ebay and Gunbroker are usually your best bet. Good luck, I looked at that add and had similar thoughts. I'll leave it up to you.

It will be difficult to find an original barrel. As it has no collectibility anyway, might as well use a newer 2" barrel if you can find one - assuming you want just a shooter. Unless that revolver is for sale very cheaply, I might want to let someone else have all the fun of such a project.

I too looked at that ad. Finding a early 2" barrel might be difficult. Then maybe an hour to remove and install, maybe more if it didn't time or BC gap came out to big and have to set shoulder back. Not worth it when I have other small 38s and am mostly a big bore guy.
