I have a buddy wanting to sell this pre27. It is in great condition with a little muzzle wear at the tip of the barrel. Ser# S1333XX. What do you guys think on value. NO orginial grips or box. Here is a couple of pics.

Big money is for pristine condition guns.

Long barrel brings less. Shorter the barrel...higher the price.

Lack of original stocks is about a $100 downer.

I would not pay more than $500 for this gun.

That's me. Take it for what it's worth.

The Pre Model 27 is a very desirable gun. The one you are considering looks to be in very nice condition and probably dates to ca 1955 and I like it very much. However, IMHO not having the original numbered to the gun stocks is a minus. Also the long barrel length is not as popular as the shorter lengths. I bought an excellent blued example with original grips with a 3.5 inch barrel last spring from a local gun store for 1K$ plus tax. I thought I got a good deal. I hope this helps.

I looked at a very similar gun a few weeks ago. It was a blue pre-27 with 8 3/8" barrel with some high edge wear. It looked to be in similar condition as this one. It had a gold numbered box in fairly good condition and original grips. I passed at $950 but did seriously consider getting it. They did sell it at $950. Subtract $100 for the grips and maybe $100 for the box (?) and you're at $750 but I would not be a buyer at that price. I think a price somewhere between the $500 suggested by SaxonPig and the $750 from my example, maybe $600-650.

Sounds like he is thinking $625 so he is not off to bad. Thanks for the input.

If the condition is as clean as you describe....it wouldn't last more than 2 min on this forum for $625.....it's still a pre27.

He made me a deal that I am willing to put in the gun so I bought it. Thanks for the info. Now need to find some original grips for it.
