Pre-27

I bought a Pre-27 3.5" on Gunbroker and am waiting it's arrival. Serial# says it is a 1954-55 revolver.

With no box or anything, i see this as a fun shooter; carry piece. Guess it is 80% from pics.

Is it worth a quality restoration instead?

Restoration? You can't fix perfection! Enjoy it for what it is. Ok, so I'm a bit jealous as I don't currently have one... Nice piece no matter what. Kyle

Not only that, but you will end up with a ex-masterpiece that will be worth probably half, or less, of what you paid for it. Why destroy your investment?

Enjoy it as it is, with 80% finish it is a shooter grade for shure still valued and collected by those seeking a gun to shoot rather than a safe queen. Refinish it and it becomes just another of the thousands of reblued guns, worth less than what you currently have and desired by practically no one.

I have $5.bucks that says it's already been re-finished once.
Either way, have it made right mechanically and shoot and enjoy it.
That is what guns like this are made for.

My gunsmith will check out the pre-27. He has parts for everything. If he says it has been refinished, I'll get him to get it redone. I found some period correct Service grips for it.

A dealer I work with went up to S&W for a private demo during the snow mess.

She showed me some pictures of new stuff. The S&W 1911 pistols will have features like Dan Wesson bobbed guns!!

and ~$1600:-(
