I acquired a nice revolver this week.
A pre 29 with some honest carry wear.
Serial number is included to find out if it's a first year gun.
I know it takes a letter to know for sure, but any help is appreciated!

The photo you show in your post is not a "Pre 29" 44 magnum. It may be a Pre 27 357 Magnum, but I can not read the cartridge roll mark on the right side of the barrel.

Yes. .44 Special. Hence, still not a "pre-Model 29."

But a postwar .44 HE Target with the 4" barrel is a tough find. It would be a keeper in my gun room for sure. S117991 puts it in about 1954.

Nothing like publicly embarrassing myself!
Mike, now you know why the serial number threw me for a loop. :>)
Bought it off an elderly gentleman and he sold it to a elderly gentleman who couldn't see.

It is indeed a 44 spl. and I'm in a grand on the handgun.
Well ... I think I'm OK on price, but I still don't have pre 29.

Tapered barrel. Dead give away that it's not a 44 Magnum. And yes, those cokes are a bonus, like my 28-2. That thing would go nicely with my plain old 6 1/2".

I think I have one I would trade you.
