In follow up to an earlier post Pre 19, I purchased this Pre 37 from the same seller yesterday. This time I went ahead and brought glasses for inspection. This a factory refinished gun. The first thing that got me questioning the gun was a missing SW logo. After conversation with a specialist on my mentor list (DC), a missing logo is not common but, "Happens from time to time". Referring to the pictures and going back to gun basics referring to DC, you have to look deep into the gun. On inspection, the grips have more wear than finish. Removed the grips to find numbered to gun. On deeper inspection, diamond star with S on frame, diamond on barrel, diamond under ejector rod. 9 20 66 marked on frame date from factory. An exact duplicate to the earlier posted pre 19. Purchased at a ridiculously low number as an insistence by seller as a leveling measure to my Pre 19 purchase (refer to earlier post).

That's a beauty, and a 4-screw to boot!

Congrats.

I recently picked up .38 Chiefs Special Airweight serial number 130794 (no model number). It's a gorgeous little thing, but it has Bianchi Lightning grips. These are the seller's photos -- I haven't made time to shoot my own, yet.

A friend has .38 Chiefs Special Airweight 130774, and it's marked Model 37 -- the earliest model marked Chiefs Special I've seen.

Mine shipped in August '58, and his shipped in September '58.
