Trying to help a friend find an upper sideplate screw for a (roughly) 1951 pre-model 10.

Numrich parts templates show the sideplate but with only the two lower and the yoke screws.

Will the lower sideplate screws fit the top screw hole? Or is that a completely different screw?

Thanks in advance.

I'm mailing you a correct upper sdeplate screw.
I'm also sending a pre 1946-47 mainspring screw and a post '47 mainspring
strain screw you so have a correct hammer strain screw. The threads are diff on these pre and post 1947ish..These are often shortened to reduce the trigger pull, often to the point of misfires.
I can't tell your model , except the hammer looks like a poss 40's "or early 50s model " fish-hook " style hammer. So you'll have both to use on it if
needed.
Best, Randy..

Randy!

Thanks so much. I used the smallest of the 3 screws to add to the upper hole. It seems to fit perfectly. Still not sure what the other two are exactly but I can tell you the gun is from 1951/2

Thanks again for this kindness.

Here is a quick photo of the gun now. Recommended ammo for range shooting?

The long screws are mainspring screws. It is located on the front bottom of the Grip frame. The screw with less threads on it should fit your Smith. It is original length. Many screws are shortened to reduce the trigger pull.
If you replace it , have the grips off so you can keep the bottom of the mainspring
in place to keep.it from jumping out of place changing the screw. It's hard to put the spring back in place w/o removing the sideplate.
If your not good on that leave it alone if the revolver works alright firing it.
Glad to help you..
Best , Randy..
