Have a chance to acquire a mint condition, no bx or accessories 5 screw p[re model 10. Serial number is c12308. Any one know what year it was born in. I am a 1950 model and was hoping maybe the revolver is also. The Standard Catalogue is not helpful in narrowing it down. I will post a picture when I get home. Thanks Hank

The 4th edition SCSW shows that serial in the 1948-1951 range. They show C1-C223998 for 48-51, so I would hazard a guess of 49-50 but I can't get any closer than that.

BTW, this thread might have been better asked in the forum that covers the pre model number guns. You might get someone that can narrow your ship date down closer there and keep the staff happy. You can hit the red triangle at the top right of your post and ask nicely for them to move your thread and they will oblige.

Sorry, but definitely two years too early, at least for the date of manufacture.

Anything below approx. C 40000 can be assumed to be 1948 production. The earliest shipped 1/1949 gun I have on record is C 44148.

For a 1950 vintage, you're likely safest in the 100- to 130-thousand range. No guarantee when they actually shipped, of course.

There are several in the database that show 1948 ship dates. For instance, C2603 shipped 5/48, C16665 shipped 11/48, C19804 shipped 8/48. There are also some in the C40000 range that shipped in 1948, including C41887 and C43198, both shipped in 2/48.

Looks like another era with ship dates all over the board. I assume that could have happened because of some major manufacturing runs made in 1948 and it took quite a bit of time to work off the inventory.
