Pre Model 27 trigger

Just picked up a pre 27 with a trigger that has 2 holes on the left side of trigger. None on the right. Just wondering if this is normal. I have 2 other pre 27's without the holes. Any help is appreciated as to what they are for. Thanks in advance. Have found out that it is a trigger shoe!

Be cautious with trigger shoes. Look carefully and see if the shoe extends outside the edge of the trigger guard. If so, this can get caught on the edge of a holster when holstering it, and an accidental discharge is possible. A Pre 27 should have a great enough trigger that it doesn't need the help of a trigger shoe.

It's likely the two "holes" are marks in the case coloring left by the two set screws used to secure a trigger shoe to the trigger.

If the trigger shoe is still on there, find the appropriate Allen wrench and remove the shoe and find a deep lake and toss it in. A trigger shoe has no place on a revolver of any manufacturer! OK, just my opinion, but shared by others.

As stated above, they are dangerous, as well as tying up the gun if they slip. They also will mark the trigger where the screws attach it to the trigger.

I'm with Nightowl and hate trigger shoes. The only place they have any use is on target revolvers like K22s and K38s. The worst thing about the shoes is I think it caused S&W to put those big half inch target triggers on most big N-frame revolvers for several decades. Those big buggers will help wear your finger out shooting a Model 29!!

My old 29-2 has had the target trigger replaced with the standard trigger way back about 40 years or so ago.
