Pre Model 28..... how does this look

Certainly you can clean your HP with Ballistol...or any other good quality CLP (cleaner, lubricant, protectant) like G96, Break Free, Hoppes One Shot, etc. Be careful of Hoppe's No. 9...it's a great solvent but if you use it lieu of a CLP it will get sticky over time and can impair operation. Don't ask me how I know. After cleaning, apply a light coat of Renaissance Wax or Johnson's Paste Wax for a great shine and to protect against moisture, finger prints, etc.

If so could you please tell me the serial number on the grips so I can try and track down a set? Are they the same serial number as the gun itself?

thanks

Yes, the stocks were hand fitted to the revolver’s frame, so technically, not interchangeable. The right stock was stamped with the serial number of the frame to make sure things got paired up during final assembly. Finding THE set with your serial number will be an undertaking in frustration.
