are these sort of rare ? found one today. 4 " target grips w/ diamond around screw hole. about 90%. 500.00. how'd I do ?

Hard to say how you did without knowing the condition and whether or not it came with box and papers. Pictures would be great. Just my opinion, but any N frame in shooting condition is probably a good buy at $500.

If you tell us more about condition, the experts here can give you an idea of market prices.

Any functioning N Frame is worth right around $500.

Lots of other variables will determine just how well you did... pictures would really help.

Well, if memory serves, they are 54, 55, and 1956. 5 screw I believe. M28 started in 1957. If the diamond magnas are numbered( they are period correct) and there is no rust or pitting, and is mechanically tight, I would say you did OK even without a box.Actually it is fine if the grips are not numbered.

Pictures please

Love the "$500 is OK" comments. That gun couldn't be touched around here for less than $850.

I would have bought it, and I don't have any use for one of those with my two 38/44 HDs. (smile)

Recently I saw some primo 28s at a rather small gun show at Aztec, NM
The seller, who I know says he’s having financial problems and is ‘flat broke.’
He tends to be a drama queen, but he was selling guns from his personal collection.
Including 3 - 28s at near 100%.
The best ones I ever saw. Most 28s I have seen were used, LE trade ins, etc.
These almost looked too good!
Almost forgot - he was asking way more than $500!
