pre model 29 value

I am trying to work a deal with the owner of this pre model 29 that has the previous owners name inscribed on the frame under the grips. What is a fair price?

No box, no tools, no paperwork.

Nice revolver. It appears to be a 4 screw 6 1/2 incher with the proper "coke" grips. More and better pictures are needed to estimate a value. Box? S&W letter?

Even with the previous "love" you're still probably looking at a $1000 gun, easy, maybe more.

If you can buy that .44 Magnum for $1000 you'd better jump on it! A 90%+ 4-screw with CB stocks will easily bring $1400+, when you can find one. The stocks alone are $400-$600. 4-screws are still not fetching what the comparable condition 5-screws are bringing, but the asking prices are climbing. Early Model 29-2s are bringing four figures these days!
