A year-long project finally complete!
They never made one, so I did. I wanted a unique large frame carry gun. I think this is the ultimate for a pre-war aficianado.
What it was:
A Canadian .455 that came to me with pitting, a poor conversion to acp with way too much headspace, and a lopped off barrel. (I left the crossed flags and broad C)
What it is:
My rendition of a 625-10!
New barrel and cylinder from Numrich.
Adapted bolt for a J frame flat latch!
ALL internal parts replaced with new.
All tolerances set to minimum.
Radocy parkerize kit finish.
Factory round lanyard ring (RHKP model)
Grip frame converted to K size (due to backstrap pitting)
Modified and recut K square grips (they were already ruined, but had nice colors) finished with walnut oil and bee's wax.
Ball detent front lock-up.
Internal trigger overtravel factory pin.
Tritium insert installed in front sight.
Also retains the pre-war cylinder hold-open pin.
Expect better pictures and a range report when time allows.
It was tough contouring the new barrel to look right. I had to shave a threads worth of metal off the front of the frame, then gently work the barrel ramp to look decent.
Front lock-up is accomplished via a ball detent just like on the original 625-10. The barral already had the recess. The ball is actually a BB! The power custom kit was too small to seat.
Converted to an early J frame flat latch! (Looks like I'll have to add a washer to keep it from scratching the frame.)
Grips drilled and beveled for round lanyard ring.
High ride holster and military lanyard ready to carry when four-wheeling, etc!
Here's a picture of a factory PC 625-10. They came in two-tone like my project, but I couldn't find a picture besides the one in the SCSW3.
