To order a new revolver online (one of the no lock classic series), who is your preferred online retailer? Does it really matter? My understanding is if something is wrong with it, then you have to go through Smith & Wesson directly anyways. Do some online retailers have a bad reputation of not packaging well when shipping?

I too have bought from Bud's but have shopped around. Never got a bum deal doing this. Bob

I also have used Bud's, but find many other dealers with better pricing now.

The biggest problem is that the local FFLs are starting to charge way too much, some try to discourage you from shopping online by charging outrageous transfer fees.

When ordering a new gun I'd much prefer top see it in person and thoroughly inspect it. Yes, it might cost you a little more, HOWEVER it is a perfect way to avoid the poor QC S&W has become synonymous with these days. I'd go on line and print out all the inspection points, what to look for and how to use the feeler gauge you should bring with you. If the gun isn't right, you don't buy it - move on to the next copy of it.

When buying a new gun online, you just never know what will be shipped until it arrives and you have paid for it.
