This .357 Combat Magnum, Model 19-3, Class-C engraving, was shipped to Rex Firearms in NYC in October 1971. It letters as being shipped with a mahogany presentation case. It is the only one I know of that was shipped with a mahogany case. Some early Combat Magnums (eight have been documented) were shipped in a dark blue presentation case like those used for the 44 Magnums in 1956. Click on the photos for a closer look.
Did any of the First or Second year pre 29's ship with presentation cases? I have heard different things and as I have a very early 5 screw I would like to get one if it came with one
I assume you are asking about the Mahogany Presentation Cases used from 1960-1982. These cases were shipped with N frame guns only, however you could buy the case from S&W and put your K frame gun in these cases.
Here is the Combat Magnum black case top! I have refurbished 2 of these in my years of doing cases!
