Presentation Case Confusion

I have this presentation case for a 4" N-frame but would like to know what era? I do not recall seeing this type of double inserts before.

The SCSW states that there were three eras of wooden presentation cases:
-1960-1969
-1969-1974
-1974-1978
-1978-1981

The case is nice, with a darker mahogany on the bottom and nice construction. If I have a proper 4" it may have a new home. If not, this may be for sale soon.

No expert but I think you have a pretty desirable box that's not seen very often.
If I'm wrong it won't be the first time. Let's hear from someone that knows.

Looks like what is known as a "Clamshell Case" from the 1960's. It was made to ship the 44 Mag and appears to be in excellent condition.

So this is the case that would be correct for a 4-screw or 3-screw S-numbered 4" 44 magnum shipped from 1960 to early 69? I'm assuming that the box did not change when the cokes were dropped in 1965 as cokes seem the same dimentions as the later target grips? Also, were 4" Model 57s shipped in these cases?

The case is correct for a 44 Magnum, 60- 68 or so. The case would be correct for a Model 57 beginning in late 65 to early 66 through 68. The change to diamond target stocks in 1966 did not affect the presentation case.

27-2 5" for a newbie

I'm new to the forum but just ended up with a model 27-2 5" with the wooden box and all components. Hadn't shot it yet can't decide to or just put it up. But have enjoyed looking around here a lot of nice guns.
