Presentation Case Storage

How do you guys store your S&W wooden Presentation Cases? Do you just stack them one on top of the other or do you separate them somehow? I know most of mine are well over 40 years old and not perfect but, I do have a few that look brand new and am wondering how to store them without getting all scratched up? I have over a dozen of them, so stacking them makes the most sense. What should I use as a barrier between them? Pictures welcome.

I've never worried about them much. Just placed on a closet shelf and that's about it. They seem to age pretty well.
A piece of cardboard between them can't hurt, I guess.

If you're trying to keep them perfect, I suppose fully enclosing them in a cardboard box would help quite a bit.

I have numerous black box 44 Magnums,one of which is an unfired 1956. I store these in a large plastic tub, separated by lots of thick insulation.

I just stack them, but I only have 6 and most of them I had restored recently. I haven't put a lot of thought into it, but a piece of c-board between them is not a bad suggestion.

The cardboard can collect and hold dust and/or dirt which will make scratches in the case below! I store my N frame guns in their cases and stacked in the safe with a piece of felt between each. Any fabric store will have felt cloth and 1 yard will do a lot of pieces for stacking cases!

I keep mine in the factory cardboard boxes they came in.
