How is $409 for a no lock 442? Can't decidebetween it and a 642 no lock. I already have a 337 Ti that has a bobbed hammder and trigger job. It is my always gun.

Good price, and buy it because I think all of the No-Locks are just about sold out. I like the 442 better than the 642 but I would take either one if I could get a No-Lock.

I agree, buy it asap. I'm looking for one myself in black, I have a 442-0 in nickle. Recently got both the "new" 642 and 37-2.
Here's my nickle version:

I just saw a used 442 with ILS for $500 in a Tampa gunshop.

I paid $425 for a new no-lock 642 not too long ago.

Your deal sounds like a good one.

Bought a no lock 442 and 642 on 12/22/08 for $420 each. I drove 300 miles round trip. Didn't even factor in the gasoline because I did not want to miss out if it was my last opportunity for a no lock. Been shooting 45 years and never owned a J frame until last November. Did a little shooting and carrying, fell hard for the handy size, then found this forum where I did some reading. Once I understood the lock issue, I was hell for leather to get a couple without locks. Glad I did. Wish I'd bought all eight of the 442's & 642's the dealer had left. But I had to draw the line somewhere.

Okay, somebody please tell me where I can get a 442 no-lock. My local dealer informed me this a.m. he couldn't find one.

Any lead would be appreciated. Thanks.

Got it! Should arrive next week. Thanks.

BTW if anyone else is looking, I ajust got an email from Discountgundealer.com and he has one in stock at a good price now.

What am I missing here? The no-locks are still listed as available from S&W. If your gun dealer is temporarily out, can't he just reorder some?

I got my 642, no-lock, for around $389 and am waiting for the $30 rebate which brings it to about $359.

Just picked up my new 642 in Micanopy and was surprised to find it was no lock--I figured only connected old hands would luck out so. Julian code is 8302, by my reading, but the test fire took place 10-28-08.
