I saw a NIB 4" barreled 66-1 in a local gun store today. The price was $699. Is this way too high? S&W revolvers have always been pricey in the Denver area, so I'm not completely shocked.

Over-all, what's the impression of the 66-1? Was this a good time period for quality?

Did the seller have a stocking over his head, because he should have. Yikes!

Highway robbery.

I paid $325 for a very nice used 2.5" 66-1 at a Texas gunshow about 18 months ago...

Too high, even for unfired NIB.

Too high by something like $ 200....

At auction the 2.5 inch 66-1's NIB have achieved that price. The 4 inchers on the other hand have not come close.
$400-$450 would be much more in line for a NIB 4 inch tubed 66-1.

66-1 is the last series to be pinned & recessed I think. It may be forever before you run across another NIB- 66-1. Try to get him to go a little under $500, that's still a little hi but if the 4" is your favorite get it. I think everyone should have a 4" m66 & a 4" m19.
