A local gun store that is usually right on with S&W prices has a model 51, in its original box, etc., for $2000.

Howie, I think I missed seeing that one yesterday when you asked me about it...I didn't get as much walking around time as you did...Did you wind up going home with it?...
...BenPassed on one with diamond grips in the box at last local gun show for $650… It was on a dealer table two shows in a row. Lots of thought about it and decided to try to make a deal if he ever returned but haven't seen him again.

I went back for it and it had sold.
Not 100% certain but likely could have snagged it
for around $700.00
Those are good prices, I haven't seen a nice one for less than $800 in a long long time.

My model 51, 110902, is the shining star in my Kit Gun display but I have not shot it. That's because no one has, outside the factory. I have my model 48's for shooting. Neat little guns though.

$650-750 sounds about right for a nice example alone. $2000 is a bit excessive.

That's more than enough for two of them in perfect shape. $700-$800 would be plenty, IMHO.
